When does reality set in?

I take offense at something that was said today during President Bush's Memorial Day speech. The President said that "we find ourselves under attack and underestimated." After four years of this war, I find this foolish. We aren't under attack, we are being thwarted in our attack on another nation and the notion that we are being underestimated after four year years is ridiculous. If we haven't committed all that we will commit to the war by now, then this has been completely mismanaged (wait... uh.. that's another story...). For the administration to continue to insist that this, somehow, was something we HAD to do is hysterical. We had one thing we HAD to do. We had to go in and shut down the Taliban, get rid of Al-Qaida, and destroy Bin Laden. We are batting zero, 0 for three, nada and it may now take us twenty years to get ouf this mess that they have caused. As I have stated before, we have to stay until we can't. We have to do everything possible.

At the beginning of the war, they had the right Secretary of Defense, with the right experience, and the right plan (overwhelming force). They chose to ignore him and use the doctrine of a lifelong paper pusher who annointed himself Vice-President. And the rest is history...

House begins debate on Iraq War

The House of Representatives began a debate today on whether to issue a non-binding resolution that shows disapproval of Bush's handling of the War. The big question here is... why? Does Speaker Pelosi feel that this will give the Dems some kind of advantage in 2008, does she just want to humiliate President Bush? Tell me what the reason is?

These are the facts: 1. We are in a war that we started. 2. We removed and killed their leader of thirty years. 3. The country is now split into different factions that will fight to a grisly death for control.

That is what we have to deal with now. The terrorist argument doesn't hold water because the terrorists have plenty of places throughout this world in which to plot against the United States.

It comes down to this. Our country is responsible for the mess Iraq is in now because we caused it. We started this war. We have a responsibilty to the Iraqi people to give them a safe home or atleast one that is safer than it was when Hussein was their leader. If that requires a boatload of troops and equipment, so be it.

I didn't and still don't agree with going into Iraq, but we did and now we, as a nation, have incurred a great responsiblity put on us by our leaders. We can not just jump up and leave. We must see this thing through. It is the thing leader nations do. If we leave before we have done right by the Iraqi people, then there is a chance we will no longer be considered the leaders of the free world. Leaders don't dump their problems just beacause they are tough. They try everything and everybody until they go down with the ship.

This is the choice our country must make and Speaker Pelosi is pulling in the wrong direction...

I just hope it's not a political ploy for next year.

Hillary finally claims Bill

Hilllary Clinton finally came and claimed ex-president Bill Clinton as her husband, reports the New York Times.

It's about time that she and other people acknowledged what happened during those eight years. Gore lost the election because he ran from eight years of a mostly successful and peaceful time. Anyone who doesn't think that there is a large number of people who would like to return to a Clinton presidency is just not seeing what is going on. I imagine if Bill Clinton could run again in 2008 he would beat any of the candidates that the Dems or Republicans could come up with. He could have done the same thing in 2000. Hillary is smart to embrace his legacy and the fact he is an intimate advisor. He is a plus for the campaign and his presence will be felt greatly next year.
